Although there are no entry requirements outlined on training.gov.au, learners are required to meet the following minimum requirements: All learners with English as a second language (ESL) must demonstrate the English Proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or other English scores accepted by Department of Home Affairs (DHA) such as TOEFL ‘PBT’ 450, TOEFL ‘iBT’ 32; PTE Academic 30; Cambridge English Advance 36; OET ‘Pass’. Alternatively, learners can request to sit for Qii/T’s Internal Language, Literacy and Numeracy test and achieve the following results. This also applies to all domestic students:

Delivery Structure and Modes of Study | Face to face | Full-time
The full-time delivery involves 20 hours per week face to face classroom teaching, tutorial and/or assessment consultation, with full time students at AQF5 level being recommended to spend approximately 10 additional hours per week to complete the given assessment task. To reach the 20 hour delivery requirement each Unit of Study will have two full days of teaching per week, timetabled 9:00am – 5:00pm with a one-hour break = 14hrs delivery and in addition to the 14hrs, each Unit of Study will have one day of tutorial and/or assessment consultation timetabled 9:00am – 4:00pm with a one-hour break = 6hrs. This will be reflected on the Study Schedules. A part-time option is available for domestic students, however; International students on Australian student visa must enrol in full time studies. In some cases, students may apply to complete up to one third of their course via distance learning. All distance learning, or ‘self-study’ Units, will be timetabled to be completed alongside another face-to-face Unit and will be supported by scheduled tutorials for additional assistance should it be required. |

Vocational placement | To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 240 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. Placement may be commenced during the delivery of the course; however, practical assessment for each Unit requiring placement will be conducted once the learning has been completed and theory assessments are deemed Satisfactory.
If the student is not already working in a position relating to this area of study, QiiT will be able to assist in finding the placement. The Institute will first try to place the student with one of the signed placement partners if a suitable position is available, or alternatively we can provide additional guides and information packs to assist the student in securing their own placement. A Trainer from the institute will visit and assess all potential placement hosts and conduct a quality assurance assessment and complete a facilities checklist before signing an agreement. |

Course Description
This program aims to prepare students to develop knowledge and skills to work within the early childhood education settings. It is expected they use organisation policies, procedures and individual children’s profiles to plan activities and provide care to children. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

Pathway
Upon successful completion of this program, clients may wish to take a further qualification in early childhood education in the tertiary education sector. Students may be eligible to gain direct entry to a number of undergraduate courses such as Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education).
