Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements outlined on, though it is preferable that learners to have one of the following:

Each enrolment should be considered on an individual basis.

All learners with English as a second language (ESL) must demonstrate the English Proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or other English scores accepted by Department of Home Affairs (DHA) such as TOEFL ‘PBT’ 450, TOEFL ‘iBT’ 32; PTE Academic 30; Cambridge English Advance 36; OET ‘Pass’.

Alternatively, learners can request to sit for Qii’s Internal Language, Literacy and Numeracy test and achieve the following results. This also applies to all domestic students:

  • 3 in Writing, Oral Communication, Reading and Learning
  • 2 in Numeracy.

Vocational placement Learners who are not employed in the aged care industry will be required to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement. Qii will assist students to secure a vocational placement and regular visits will be conducted by a Qii trainer/assessor.

Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
